Reasons Why I Hate This Crawlies

Greetings! Today, I decided to write on entry why I hate spiders (and scared of). So without further ado, here’s my reasons!

Some spiders bite

I know not all spiders bite, but when it does, it hurts. Some can even kill you in few hours. Better to be safe than sorry right?

They can hide everywhere

They can hide in your shoes, inside your drawer, at the basement and be making webs there. And there a particular species that hide in bananas. Don’t believe it? This spider is called the Brazilian Wandering Spider.

Quick fact:

  1. The Brazilian Wandering spider is the most deadliest spider in the world.
  2. Their Greek name Phoneutria means “murderess".
  3. They are known as wandering spider because they don’t build web instead they walk around the jungle floor during night. But in day light, they find place to hide.
  4. When defending itself, they lift their body up on their hind legs in a defensive display.

Ughh. Look at it, ready to attack.

  5. Even though its venom is the most deadliest, an effective antivenom is available.
  6. If you are bitten, chance are nothing bad will happen.
  7. The venom only causes extreme pain and inflammation, loss of muscle control and breathing problems, resulting in paralysis and eventual asphyxiation.
  8. The spider’s bite can cause an unwanted erection in men which can last sometimes to four hours.

Their eyes

Don’t even get me started with this. Did you see it’s eyes? How can it have so many eyes? Knowing that it can watch every corners with those eyes... (shudders) And... where are they looking at?

Spider webs

Okay, I know it is for them to catch their food but once you touch it, do you know how difficult to take it off? It’s so sticky. And what about the scenes from LOTR: Return of The King where Frodo gets stuck in the spider web? Nope, don’t like those webs.

Interesting fact: do you know that before plaster was invented, people use spider webs to stop cut from bleeding? Yeah, probably not a good idea because of those germs on the web...

Guess which species makes its nest on a banana?

Furry

Well, not all of them have hairs but when some of them have and it’s really creepy. Especially those on the big ones!

Those many legs

Why do they have so many legs? And you know what’s worse? They can jump on you. Imagine you are dusting the shelves and suddenly something jump and crawling all over you. Not a nice feeling right?

Oh sure, some of you might say, spiders are small, they can’t kill you (yeah, so does grenade but look at the damage it can do). Well, some spiders can kill you. And they might be small, but have you take a look at what they can do to prey and predator bigger than them?

Okay, that's all. I'm getting spooked seeing those spiders. Until then, see you all later!
