Romance Novels That Are Better Than Nicholas Spark’s

Hello, everyone!

If you know me well, you will know that I love reading. Mostly I read manga and fanfiction but I still read some novels! Well, novels that are ... interesting... whatever. So, I’m recollecting my memories on all the novels that I’ve read to rate them. This entry is about romance novel.

I don’t know about you but I love Nicholas Spark work. He’s really an expert when it comes to making his characters alive and playing with our feelings. It’s hard to find a romance novel that can beat his. So, I’m writing down a list of novels that are better than his!

1. The Time Traveler’s Wife by Audrey Niffeneger

I’ve first read this novel when I was 16 so forgive me if I left out a lot of details. I think what makes me love this novel is that its concept. A man who can time travel, met his wife in different time zone. One day, he’s at the present time. Suddenly, he was travelled back to the past. Then, back to the present only to be jumped to the future. Imagine how messed up his life is.

2. Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell

This piece of art is a heart-breaking novel. Truly. To summarize it, this story is about a pair of star-crossed lover. Park, a half-Korean boy who is rich and new to the town meet Eleanor, the normal and bullied girl. What makes me love it are it’s a slow budding romance. The two start of as a friend and slowly started to have feelings for each other. Park’s parents are an example of a supportive parents. They don’t mind that Eleanor is not pretty and came from a poor family, although Mrs Park is a bit hesistant at first, they decided to support them andconstantly inviting Eleanor for dinner. When Eleanor abusive stepfather went after her, the Parks lend their car to their son to drive Eleanor to her uncle’s house, safe from her stepfather. The story ends when Eleanor send a letter to Park written only in three words. Well, it’s not hard to guess what it is. We never know if Park and Eleanor see each other after the event but it is revealed in the prologue that Eleanor passed away. Sad, itsn’t it?

3. Pride And Prejudice by Jane Austen

To be truth, I’m not a fan of literature novel like this but Pride And Prejudice is something that I wuldn’t mind reading it. This novel is a piece of art. I’m sure those who loves literature will love this book and fall in love with Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy. Sure, Elizabeth might be stubborn and fixed on her opinion, and Mr. Darcy is an arrogant and prideful man. But when they realize on their mistakes, they tone down on their pride and prejudice on each other and accept that they are two people who are in love with each other.

4. The Edge of Never by J.A. Redmerski

I admit, I was first intrigued by the cover of novel (and boredom) so I went ahead and borrow this from the library. My mom read it first and told me it was a sad story. After finished reading it, all kinds of emotion just go through me. This story is about how two people who each battling their emotions after a series of misfortune, meet accidently and without relizing it, they seek comfort on each other. This novel is actually an online novel which later got published due to its popularity. Overall, I love the sweet, calm, and comforting feelings you can feel from the two main characters of this novel (I forgot their names).

Honorable Mentions :

Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte
Gone With The Wind by Margarett Mitchell
Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte
Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire
The Fault In Our Star by John Greene

P.s : There is no Nicholas Spark novels in here because this entry is about novels in my opinion that are better or in the same level as Sparks’.

I have to stop here because it's getting too long and I don't want you to be bored. Feel free to comment if there is a novel that you think should be on the list. Until then, bye!
